Visibility is used to either show or hide a variable in the form depending on the data in another variable.
Click "Project design", and choose "Dependencies" from the dropdown menu
Click "+ Add variable", drag the initiating variable to the clipboard, or click the "+" icon on the variable card
Select "Visibility" from the dropdown menu
Click "+ New condition" and select the correct value
Select the dependent variable
Click "Update" to activate your dependency
For example, if you have created a category variable called “Symptoms” with the values “Yes” and “No”, and another variable called “Symptom description”, you can use visibility to only show the “Symptom description” variable when “Yes” is chosen in “Symptoms”. Only the condition to show the variable (in this case, “Yes”) needs to be defined, as the other option (“No”) will automatically hide the variable. In this example, “Symptoms” is the initiating variable, and “Symptom description” is the dependent variable.

You can also use a numeric variable as an initiating variable. For example, suppose the initiating variable is “Systolic blood pressure” and the dependent variable is “Type of antihypertensive medication”. In that case, the latter should only be shown if the systolic blood pressure is higher than 140 mmHg.
